MISSION
(Matthew 22:37-40; Matthew 28:18-20)
The mission of the church refers to its overarching purpose and calling, typically centered on fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) and embodying the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-40). It's the reason the church exists - to glorify God by making disciples, proclaiming the gospel, and advancing God's kingdom. This encompasses outreach efforts, evangelism, church planting, global missions, and local community engagement to spread the message of Jesus Christ and bring others into the church.
MAGNIFICATION
(Psalm 34:3; John 4:23-24; Romans 12:1)
Magnification refers to worshiping and glorifying God. It speaks to the church's activities that focus on making God known and exalted - both corporately and individually. This is seen in worship services, singing, preaching, prayer, and other acts of worship. Magnification helps the congregation focus on God's greatness and align their hearts toward His glory.
MEMBERSHIP
(Acts 2:41-42; Hebrews 10:24-25; Romans 12:5)
Membership is about belonging to the local body of Christ. It refers to the commitment individuals make to join the church as active participants, both receiving care and contributing to the life of the church. Membership involves formal processes for joining the church, including affirming doctrine, agreeing to the church's covenant, and committing to live in community with fellow believers. It emphasizes unity, accountability, and responsibility within the body of Christ.
MATURITY
(Colossians 1:28; 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
Maturity refers to the spiritual growth and discipleship of believers. It involves the process of growing in Christ-likeness, deepening one's faith, and becoming more equipped to live out the gospel in everyday life. The church fosters maturity through teaching, small groups, Bible studies, mentoring, and discipleship programs. It involves helping believers understand Scripture, develop spiritual disciplines (prayer, Bible reading), and apply biblical principles to their lives.
MINISTRY
(Ephesians 4:12; 1 Peter 4:10-11; Galatians 6:10)
Ministry refers to serving others, both within the church body and in the community at large. It encompasses the practical outworking of faith through acts of service, using spiritual gifts to build up the church and meet the needs of others. Mature believers take leadership roles in various ministries, such as teaching, mentoring, organizing outreach, and caring for the congregation. They disciple and equip others to serve, ensuring that all church members are engaged in meaningful ministry according to their gifts, while providing guidance and oversight to the teams they lead.
