A Year in Review – Annual Report
For some of you, you may be amazed by how fast this past year has gone. I am sure there are some, as we celebrated our 50th Anniversary, that are amazed by how fast half a century goes by. What a great opportunity this is to stop and reflect on our awesome God and how He has remained faithful to us over this past year or even 50 years. We took time this year to celebrate 50 years of God’s grace to us as a church family. We looked at praising God for what He has done, is doing, and trusting Him as we move forward in faith.
As we celebrate 50 years, I am thankful for the many opportunities God has given us to proclaim His Gospel. Opportunities such as Appleby Line Street Festival, which allowed us to reach out to our community with the Gospel and to make God’s presence, and our own, known in our community. I’m grateful for being able to partner with local churches such as Burlington Alliance to help our community and display the glory of Christ in it through the Christmas Miracle Drive. Or with Harvest Oakville as we were able to partner with them to send some 50 people to hear the gospel over a Christmas dinner. I’m thankful for the opportunities we have had to bring the Gospel to our streets and parks through the GO Team. I am amazed by God’s work in raising up young men who seek God and who aspire to take on leadership roles here and how God is giving them a heart to make, mature, and multiply disciples of Jesus Christ. I’m thankful for the continued ministry to the seniors in our church family and community through visitations, lunches, hymn sings, and through Pastor Don’s faithful ministry to senior’s residences in our community. I am encouraged to see how even during this time of transition, Pineland still aims to be a light bringing the Gospel to our neighbourhood. I continue to be humbled by those who faithfully serve and contribute to the ongoing ministry and life at Pineland. I am also thankful for God bringing Pastor Wally to us and how he faithfully preached the gospel over these two years. Even as I write this, we are looking forward to how God will work as we continue to transition with the possible call of a new Lead Pastor to join as a fellow elder. The list can go on and on, so as we look back, I have two questions for you: What are you thanking God for as you look back on 2016? What are you seeking God for as we move into 2017?
As you read the reports and summaries of what has happened this year, be sure to take the time to thank God and praise Him for what He has done at Pineland. Also, continue to pray for the ministry leaders as you read through their reports. Take the time to thank our ministry leaders for their service and continue to pray for them as the new year begins. Pray for our Elders/Pastors as we continue to lead and seek God’s wisdom in shepherding Pineland. Pray for us as a church as we possibly transition with a new Lead Pastor. Pray for that man’s family as they will also be transitioning. Pray for his current church as they will be entering into a time that we have been in for the past two years. Pray that our hearts will be ready to accept him as one of our shepherds. Pray for the Gospel preaching churches throughout Burlington, that the God’s kingdom may increase.
As we enter into 2017, my heart’s desire and prayer is that we would be a church that makes, matures, and multiplies disciples of Jesus Christ. May we be a community that is shaped by the gospel, centred around the gospel, and reaching out with the gospel. Please pray with me as your Elders and Pastors continue to strive to lead Pineland to be a church that makes disciples. Pray for lay elders, Mike, Dave, Kevin, Tom, Gerry, and Keith, and our pastors, Don, myself, and Wally. May you “as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.”
